How to Choose Wall Art for Your Home
Start with the feeling you want in the room. Landscapes and coastal scenes open up a wall and feel calm. Still lifes and botanicals add warmth and suit kitchens, dining rooms and bedrooms. Fantasy and interior scenes add storytelling, while abstract pieces bring energy to modern rooms.
- Size: above furniture, choose art about two-thirds of the furniture’s width.
- Height: hang the center of the art at about 145 to 152 cm (57 to 60 inches) from the floor.
- Color: repeat one or two colors from the artwork elsewhere in the room.
- Frames: natural wood for warm scenes, black for dramatic pieces, gold for vintage and classical art.
